Seafood, beers and a ballgame

Petco Park is such a great place to watch a ballgame. The weather is usually perfect and they focus on a lot of local restaurants and breweries. You can still get your standard fare of hot dogs and nachos, but you can also try some local favorites like the brisket from Grand Ole BBQ, Fish Tacos from Brigantine or a California Burrito from Lucha Libre.

This trip we decided to eat before heading to the ballpark. We were staying in Shelter Island for the night and decided to swing by one of our favorite Seafood restaurants, Mitch's Seafood, before heading to the ballpark. I always get the halibut sandwich with avocado, and my wife loves their crab cakes. They have some great outdoor seating with a beautiful view of the harbor. It can get busy though, so there is usually a line to get in. When we were done we decided to take an Uber from there, and it was about a $15 fare.

On certain Friday's they have a Beerfest which is basically a pregame party in the Park at the Park. They have $5 beer specials from local and national breweries. For $5 you get a chance to try some local and national breweries. I think they're 12oz pours, but seems like a pretty good deal because the 16-20oz beers during the game can cost up to $14.50 this season.

We got there at the tail end of Beerfest.
Another shot of Beerfest.
Ballast point has a bar in right field with a little sand pit for the kids to get messy.
Grand Old BBQ is one of our favorite BBQ joints in San Diego, and we were excited to see it in Petco this year.

Craft Row is a good spot to grab a local brew.

Walking around Petco has a very nice, airy feel to it. Lots of natural light and a chance to enjoy that great San Diego weather.

We were seated in Row 1, Section 327 and this was the view from our seat.

The view across to field from our seats. I love the Jack in the Box head on the foul pole.

Looking down at the right field foul pole. Trent Grisham knocked a homer off of it during the game.
